This year, the Pilipino American vote is more important than ever. Asian Americans are finally being recognized as an important voting bloc in elections, and are frequently seen as "swing voters" - a group that can be the deciding factor in an election. The Pilipino American voter turnout has been modest at best, but this year we have the chance to show that our vote counts, and policy makers should make an effort to cater to our demographic not only in reaching out to our community, but making policy decisions that effect our community in positive ways.
